To enter Bolivia, visitors from Canada, Australia, and the UK do not need tourist visas. They must only present valid passports. United States tourists need a visitors’ visa which they can apply for at the Bolivian embassy or consulate in their home country.

The visa does have an issuance fee (reciprocity fee) associated with it. This costs US$160 and travelers must present proof of hotel stay, or a letter of invitation.

Make sure you are vaccinated against hepatitis A and typhoid. Some travelers might also need to be inoculated against rabies, hepatitis B, and yellow fever, though this depends on their travel plans. It is recommended to visit your doctor at least a month before your trip to get any recommended or required vaccines and medicines you may need.

One of the must see places in Bolivia are the Uyuni salt flats, the largest in the world. This prehistoric lake dried out and left behind an incredible desert-like landscape of bright white salt.
